About

RECAP S2 held between two fingers — small enough to forget it's there

A call recorder that disappears.

RECAP is a tiny hardware adapter that records both sides of any phone call — directly to your own device. No app. No cloud. No subscription. Just plug in and press record.

We designed it for people who can’t afford to lose a word: journalists protecting sources, lawyers documenting calls, medical teams staying HIPAA-compliant, and professionals who need reliable records without the complexity.

It’s been in production since 2013, shipped to 33 countries, and it works exactly the same today as it did on day one. No firmware updates. No end-of-life. No surprises.

Why hardware?

Software recording apps depend on the platform they run on. They break with OS updates, get blocked by carriers, require permissions, and store your calls on someone else’s server. When the app shuts down, your recording setup dies with it.

RECAP takes a different approach. It’s a passive analog device — no software, no battery, no internet connection. It captures audio through the headphone path, which means it works with every phone, every carrier, and every calling app. Regular calls, WhatsApp, Zoom, Signal, FaceTime — if you can hear it, RECAP can record it.

Your recordings live on your device. You control them completely.

Who trusts RECAP

RECAP is used by investigators at the U.S. Department of Defense, clinicians at Michigan Medicine, and journalists at Bloomberg News — along with thousands of professionals in legal, compliance, research, and customer service roles across 33 countries.

They chose RECAP because it doesn’t require IT approval, doesn’t touch a network, and produces court-admissible stereo recordings with each voice on its own channel.

Who we are

RECAP is made by Dossant LLC, a small engineering team in Austin, Texas. We design, manufacture, and ship every unit ourselves. No resellers, no middlemen.
