RECAP – Terms & Conditions

Last revised: August 31, 2026

1. Before You Order

RECAP is made and sold by Dossant LLC, Austin, Texas, USA. These Terms & Conditions are an agreement between you and Dossant LLC.

By placing an order, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions in full.

If You Are Ordering RECAP S2 Hardware

  • Verify that your intended recording device provides a compatible stereo microphone input using the Audio Device Scanner or the tools on our support page.
  • Review the available product documentation and compatibility information on our support page.
  • Understand and accept that cosmetic variations are inherently part of a handmade, 3D-printed product.
  • Understand that placing your order constitutes acknowledgment that you have verified your recording device provides a compatible stereo microphone input, and that you accept the characteristics of a handmade, 3D-printed product, as described in these Terms.

2. The Product

Appearance

  • RECAP S2 is a handmade product with a 3D-printed enclosure.
  • The surface may show visible printing lines, small surface variations, and minor differences in color or dimensions.
  • Cosmetic perfection is not guaranteed — that’s the nature of a handmade, 3D-printed product. If you require a flawless finish, RECAP S2 isn’t the right fit for you.

Compatibility

  • RECAP S2 requires a STEREO MICROPHONE input on your recording device.
  • It is your responsibility to verify that your device is compatible before purchasing. Use the Audio Device Scanner to check your input, or visit our support page for setup guides.
  • Lack of compatibility with your device does not constitute a defect and is not covered by warranty.

Operation

  • The device itself has no user-adjustable settings or controls.
  • Input levels and recording parameters are set on the recorder/phone/camera being used.
  • A user manual and support resources are provided to explain basic operation.

3. Order & Shipping

Processing Time

  • Orders generally ship within five (5) business days.
  • Choosing Priority or Express shipping changes the shipping method only; it does not shorten the processing time.
  • During holidays, vacation periods, or periods of high demand or limited stock, the website may indicate temporarily longer lead times. The lead time shown at the time you place your order is the one that applies.
  • Shipping may be delayed by circumstances beyond RECAP’s control, including supply chain disruptions, carrier delays, severe weather, or public health events. RECAP is not liable for such delays.
  • If a package is returned or lost because the shipping address you provided was wrong or incomplete, you are responsible for the cost of reshipping it.

U.S. Shipping – Ground Advantage vs Priority Mail

  • USPS Ground Advantage
    • Tracked. Any loss or damage coverage USPS includes with this service is subject to a claim you file with USPS.
    • RECAP’s responsibility ends once the package is accepted by USPS and a tracking number is provided.
    • If the package is lost or damaged in transit, there is no refund from RECAP.
  • Priority Mail
    • Tracked and insured.
    • RECAP’s responsibility ends when USPS marks the package as DELIVERED.
    • Any loss or damage in transit is subject to a USPS insurance claim, which you file.

International Orders

  • International orders may be subject to customs processing, import duties, taxes, or delays beyond RECAP’s control. These charges are yours to pay.
  • On express services such as UPS and DHL, the carrier may deliver your package before these charges are settled and invoice you afterwards, including its own clearance or disbursement fee. Receiving the package does not mean the duties have been paid.
  • Which international shipping options appear at checkout depends on your destination. They are USPS Standard International or UPS Worldwide Expedited — the standard tracked option, named for the carrier that will carry your parcel — plus Economy International, Priority Mail International, and, for select countries, DHL Express.
  • Where an option names a carrier, that is the carrier we intend to use. If we have to substitute a different carrier or service, it will be equivalent or better — never a lesser service than the one you paid for. The terms below apply to whichever carrier carries your package.
  • USPS Standard International is tracked to the destination. Insurance is not included unless the carrier used provides it under its own terms below. RECAP’s responsibility ends when the carrier marks the package as delivered; if tracking shows the package was lost in transit, any claim is subject to that carrier’s own claims process and decision.
  • Economy International has limited tracking in most countries and no insurance. RECAP’s responsibility ends when USPS accepts the package and a tracking number is provided. If the package is lost or damaged, there is no refund from RECAP.
  • Priority Mail International includes tracking and up to $200 insurance. Any loss or damage claim is one you file directly with USPS.
  • UPS Worldwide Expedited is tracked door-to-door and includes up to $100 insurance. RECAP’s responsibility ends when UPS marks the package as delivered, and any loss or damage claim is subject to UPS’s own claims process and decision.
  • DHL Express is tracked and insured. RECAP’s responsibility ends when DHL marks the package as delivered, and any loss or damage claim is subject to DHL’s own claims process and decision.
  • Insurance limits are set by the carrier and apply per package, not per item. If the value of your order is higher than the limit for the service you chose, the difference is not covered — an order of two or more units can exceed the cover on some services. If that matters to you, choose a service whose limit meets your order value.
  • Full details on shipping options, tracking coverage by country, insurance, and delivery times are available on our International Orders page.

4. Support & Contact

  • All support goes through our support page — that’s the fastest way to reach us.
  • RECAP is a small operation. We read every request and answer as many as we can, but there is no guaranteed response time.
  • If something is wrong with your order, contact us before opening a card dispute — we can almost always fix it faster directly.

5. Warranty & Returns

All Sales Final

  • All sales are final, except as covered by the 30-day warranty below.
  • Returns and refunds are not offered, including but not limited to:
    • Change of mind
    • Dissatisfaction with cosmetic appearance
    • Incompatibility with your device
  • If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, this policy does not affect your statutory right to withdraw from a distance purchase, or your statutory protections for goods lost or damaged in transit.

Warranty Coverage

  • RECAP S2 is covered by a 30-day limited warranty against manufacturing defects only, starting on the date of delivery.
  • To the extent the law allows, any implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the same 30-day period and are subject to the same exclusions listed below.
  • Some states don’t allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limit may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state.

Covered Examples

  • Defective solder joints
  • Failures of internal electronic components
  • Defective cable or connector
  • Functional failures not caused by misuse or external damage

Exclusions (Not Covered)

  • Cosmetic imperfections (including 3D-printing texture, layer lines, minor finish or color variations)
  • Device incompatibility (e.g., using a device without a stereo mic input)
  • Damage caused by misuse, abuse, improper handling, modification, or attempted repair or reverse engineering
  • Normal wear and tear

Warranty Process

  1. You submit a warranty claim via the support page within 30 days of delivery.
  2. The claim should include the order number, clear photographs, and a description of the issue.
  3. If the claim is approved, RECAP will repair or replace the product at its discretion.
  4. You are responsible for shipping the product back to RECAP; RECAP covers the cost of shipping the repaired or replacement unit back to you.

Wrong Item Shipped

  • If the wrong product or an incorrect item is shipped, RECAP will cover return shipping and send the correct item at no additional cost.
  • Issues with wrong items must be reported within seven (7) days of delivery.

6. Other Legal Terms

Limitation of Liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, RECAP’s total liability for any claim arising from the purchase or use of the product shall not exceed the purchase price you paid for that product.
  • RECAP is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including but not limited to lost recordings, lost data, or lost business opportunities.

Recording Laws

  • You are solely responsible for compliance with all local, state, and national laws regarding the recording of audio, telephone calls, and copyrighted material.
  • RECAP is not responsible for any unlawful or non-compliant use of the product.

Product Use

  • You agree not to disassemble, modify, or reverse engineer the product.

Privacy

  • Information about how we collect and use personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Governing Law

  • These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
  • If any part of these terms is unenforceable where you live, the rest still applies.

Changes to These Terms

  • These Terms & Conditions may be updated or revised from time to time. The version indicated on the site at the time of purchase applies to that order.
